Safety PAL Competency Assessment

What is Competency?

Competence can be described as the combination of training, skills, experience and knowledge individuals have for a specific task or activity.

What is this tool?

Safety PAL (Plan Act learn) has created this new feature to help you and your business better understands and manage individual competence, grow workers’ abilities to do a task or activity safer and be able to prove competence – should the need arise.

How to use this:

From your Safety PAL dashboard click on ‘Users’.

Select ‘View’ on the user you want to do a competency assessment with.

You will now see the new button at the top of the page ‘Competency Assessment’ click and you will see the Competence Assessment page.

Once you have filled out all the information it will now appear on the worker’s user profile, the worker will be sent an email (shown on the 1st image) so they can confirm that they have had the assessment done.

On the user’s profile, it will show that it is awaiting confirmation.

Once the worker has confirmed that they had the assessment the line manager/supervisor will then receive an email saying the worker has confirmed it.

On the user’s profile, it will show that they have confirmed it and the date they confirmed.

You can then go onto the user profile and click view on the worker that has had the competence assessment done and view the assessment details, photos and videos.

Reporting

Knowing who has had competency assessments completed, and the workers which need more assessments than others is vital in managing competence.

The image below shows under the column ‘CA’

Red : The number of assessments the worker has had and NOT CONFIRMED.

Green:  The number of CONFIRMED assessments.

On the user CPD (Continuing Professional Development) profile, you can also see assessments confirmed or not confirmed.
